Responsible Innovation

At INNOV, we believe that responsible innovation is built on trust, transparency, and respect for people and data. Our applied research and industrial support activities are governed by rigorous policies, aligned with those of the Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick (CCNB) and with the requirements of federal research funding agencies.

Our Policies

Regulatory Framework and INNOV’s Commitments

The research activities conducted by INNOV fall within the regulatory framework of the New Brunswick Community College (CCNB) and are subject to all CCNB institutional policies, in accordance with the New Brunswick Community Colleges Act.

In this context, INNOV adheres to CCNB policies and implements internal practices aimed specifically at:

  • research ethics and integrity;
  • the ethics and integrity of administrative and contractual practices;
  • occupational health and safety;
  • the protection of intellectual property and information.

In accordance with the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Policy, INNOV is committed to promoting a respectful and inclusive culture within its teams and across all its projects.

INNOV recognizes that diverse perspectives enrich research, stimulate creativity, and enhance the relevance of the solutions we develop for communities and businesses.

In accordance with the CCNB’s Privacy Policy, confidentiality is a central aspect of INNOV’s activities and its relationships with its partners.

Projects are carried out in compliance with institutional, legal, and contractual obligations designed to protect shared data and information. They are governed by a non-disclosure agreement that ensures the protection of shared technical, commercial, and scientific information.

In this context, INNOV’s practices include the following:

  • Data, prototypes, results, and concepts shall be treated as confidential in accordance with the terms of the agreements entered into, unless otherwise agreed;
  • Team members and collaborators are required to comply with institutional confidentiality requirements and, where applicable, to sign a non-disclosure agreement before the start of a project;
  • Any dissemination of results, images, or publications is carried out in accordance with the required authorizations and applicable agreements.

In accordance with institutional policies and guidelines on information management, security, and data storage, INNOV applies these institutional requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

Dans ce cadre, les pratiques d’INNOV visent notamment à assurer :

  • strict management of the collection, use, and processing of data related to research activities;
  • the use of tools, systems, and platforms authorized by the CCNB, in accordance with cybersecurity and privacy requirements;
  • the retention, archiving, and destruction of data in accordance with applicable institutional policies and schedules;
  • the protection of sensitive information, including anonymization when required prior to disclosure;
  • compliance with applicable requirements regarding scientific integrity, including practices recognized by funding agencies (NSERC, SSHRC, CIHR), where applicable.
