INNOV is looking for a motivated and rigorous individual to fill the position of Applied Research Technician at our Bathurst Innovation Center. This role would suit someone who enjoys solving real-world problems, working with specialized equipment and helping companies turn their technical challenges into practical solutions.

The successful candidate will work with researchers, project managers, students and industrial partners to prepare tests, operate equipment, collect data, document results and contribute to a safe and collaborative laboratory environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare materials, tools, equipment and workspaces required for applied research projects.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory or workshop equipment according to established procedures.
  • Support testing, prototyping, validation and technical problem-solving activities.
  • Accurately record observations, measurements, photos and technical notes.
  • Participate in project documentation, reporting and internal knowledge sharing.
  • Respect health, safety, quality and confidentiality procedures.
  • Collaborate with researchers, technicians, students and external partners.
  • Participate in equipment demonstrations, training activities and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in engineering technology, applied sciences, manufacturing, materials, biotechnology, environmental technology or related field.
  • Experience in laboratory, workshop, prototyping, manufacturing or applied research is considered an asset.
  • Ability to learn how to use new equipment, tools, software and technical procedures.
  • Great attention to detail and ability to clearly document the work carried out.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to occupational health and safety, confidentiality and professionalism.
  • French-English bilingualism is considered an asset.
