What is this about?

In an economic context marked by uncertainty, technological transformations, workforce issues and pressures that directly affect companies, a better understanding of the reality on the ground becomes essential.

With this in mind, INNOV, the CCNB’s innovation and applied research centers, is contributing to the deployment of the bi-annual Barometer of Business Leaders’ Morale in New Brunswick, an initiative carried out in collaboration with the New Brunswick Business Council (NBBC ) and the Conseil économique du Nouveau-Brunswick (CÉNB).

The objective: to give a voice to the province’s business leaders to better understand their economic outlook, investment intentions, strategic priorities and the challenges facing their organizations.

Moving from observation to anticipation

Traditional economic data often help us to understand what has already happened. They are essential, but they usually look in the rear-view mirror.

The Barometer proposes a complementary approach: directly gathering perceptions, intentions and signals from the people who make day-to-day decisions in New Brunswick businesses.

This approach aims to better anticipate what’s to come, rather than simply analyzing what’s already happened.

By regularly measuring business leaders’ morale, concerns and intentions, the Barometer aims to become a benchmark tool for monitoring the province’s business climate.

A tool designed for New Brunswick businesses

The Barometer is aimed at owners, CEOs, managers and senior executives of New Brunswick companies, regardless of size, sector or region.

Questions include

  • economic outlook;
  • investment intentions;
  • workforce issues;
  • innovation and productivity;
  • the adoption of new technologies;
  • organizations’ strategic priorities.

The survey is available in English and French, is anonymous and takes less than 10 minutes to complete.

This approach has been designed to respect managers’ time, while providing useful data for the entire business community.

A direct contribution to provincial business intelligence

For INNOV, this initiative is fully in line with its mission: to support innovation, accompany organizations and contribute to New Brunswick’s economic development through applied research.

The Barometer is not just about producing statistics. It seeks to transform perceptions and realities on the ground into useful information for companies, economic development organizations, institutions and public decision-makers.

The greater the participation, the more representative and useful the results will be for understanding the province’s economic dynamics.

The results will then be shared with the business community to fuel economic discussions and support better decision-making.

Why take part?

Participating in the Barometer means contributing to a more accurate portrait of the reality of New Brunswick businesses.

It’s also an opportunity to voice the priorities, concerns and ambitions of companies in a context where economic decisions must be based on concrete data.

Participants will also receive a summary of the results before they are made public.

A collective project to better understand New Brunswick’s economy

The Barometer is based on collaboration between partners who share a common goal: to better understand the New Brunswick economy through the eyes of those who bring it to life on a daily basis.

By mobilizing the province’s English- and French-speaking business networks, this initiative is helping to build a common, useful and sustainable tool for tracking changes in the business climate.

Business leaders are invited to take part in the survey now.
